The Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club, a semi-private club, first opened in 1928. The original course contained sand greens until 1952 when grass greens were installed. The 9-hole course features 2,833 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. The course rating is 33.2 with a slope of 105. In 1963 Eddie Devinger, Jr. set the 9-hole course record for an amateur of 29.
The Club is governed by a five-member board who serve three-year terms. Currently the Club offers family, single, student golfing memberships as well as a social membership. Members have access to a year-around bar, Friday night dining, and banquet and meeting facilities. In addition our membership has a calendar of social activities including golf events, holiday parties, and family events. The Club offers men's, women's, and couple's leagues, and a junior golf program.
